Description
Indications
Acical-D is used in the treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disorders. It is also prescribed to ensure adequate calcium intake in conditions such as pregnancy, lactation, osteogenesis, and tooth development, in combination with appropriate treatment. Additionally, it is used alongside anti-seizure medications and serves as a routine supplement and phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Pharmacology
Acical-D contains Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Calcium is essential for various bodily functions, particularly for bone formation and maintenance. Vitamin D3 plays a crucial role in calcium absorption and reabsorption, supporting bone development. Studies indicate that the combination of Calcium and Vitamin D3 promotes bone growth and aids in preventing osteoporosis and fractures.
Dosage & Administration
- Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablet: Take 2 tablets daily or 1 tablet twice a day. For best absorption, take it with or immediately after meals.
- Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 400 IU Tablet: Take 1 tablet twice daily. It is recommended to take it with or after meals for optimal absorption.

Drug Interactions
Acical-D may interact with calcium, aluminum, or magnesium-containing antacids, other calcium supplements, calcitriol, and other Vitamin D3 supplements. Additionally, it may interact with digoxin, tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, and oxytetracycline.
Contraindications
This medication should not be used in individuals with:
- Hypercalcemia (high calcium levels)
- Hyperthyroidism
- Kidney stones (renal calculi and nephrolithiasis)
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Side Effects
Acical-D is generally well tolerated. However, some individuals may experience:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Stomach cramps
- Dry mouth
- Increased thirst
- Increased urination
- Constipation

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
