Pharmacology
This formulation is a combination of Iron Polymaltose Complex, Folic Acid, Zinc, and B Vitamins, designed to enhance iron absorption and utilization. Iron Polymaltose Complex is a water-soluble macromolecular compound that consists of polynuclear iron (III) hydroxide with partially hydrolyzed dextrin (Polymaltose). Unlike other iron salts, it does not interfere with food components or medications, ensuring optimal bioavailability. This enables effective hemoglobin synthesis.
- Folic Acid plays a crucial role in preventing neural tube defects during fetal development.
- Zinc supports various metabolic processes, enhances blood formation, promotes wound healing, and strengthens the immune system.
- Thiamine (Vitamin B1) aids in the proper functioning of the nervous and digestive systems.
- Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) supports digestion, immunity, and energy production.
- Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) contributes to brain development, red blood cell production, and protein metabolism, and helps alleviate morning sickness.
- Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) plays a key role in energy metabolism, circulation, and blood pressure regulation.
Dosage & Administration
- The standard dose is one capsule daily.
- In cases of severe deficiency, two capsules per day may be recommended.

Precautions & Warnings
- Patients prone to iron overload, such as those with hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia, or red cell aplasia, should use this supplement with caution.
- Iron can bind with tetracycline, potentially reducing absorption.
Overdose Effects
- Accidental overdose of iron-containing supplements is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six years.
- Excessive iron intake may lead to bloody diarrhea, vomiting, acidosis, dark stools, and abdominal pain, although symptoms may subside within hours.
- High doses of Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) above 200 mg for extended periods have been linked to sensory neuropathy.
- Excess Nicotinamide may cause nausea and diarrhea.
- Zinc toxicity can occur with excessive intake (150–450 mg/day), leading to low copper levels, impaired iron function, weakened immunity, and reduced HDL cholesterol levels.
- However, Zinc in its recommended daily allowance (RDA) does not pose significant health risks.
