Description

Indications
Alve is prescribed for the treatment of the following conditions:

• Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
• Bowel movement irregularities caused by diverticular disease (small pouches in the gut wall)
• Abdominal pain related to primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps)
• Relief from other conditions involving involuntary muscle spasms

Use this medication as directed by a registered physician.

Pharmacology
Alverine Citrate is a smooth muscle relaxant, which means it acts on muscles that function involuntarily, such as those in the gut and uterus. By directly relaxing these muscles, Alverine Citrate helps alleviate spasms associated with conditions like irritable bowel syndrome and diverticular disease. It also reduces uterine muscle contractions, making it effective for managing menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea).

Dosage & Administration
Adults: Oral administration of 60-120 mg, taken 1-3 times daily.

Contraindications

• Not recommended for individuals with paralytic ileus (intestinal blockage) or known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Children under 12 years: Not recommended.

Overdose Effects
An overdose may lead to hypotension (low blood pressure) and symptoms similar to atropine toxicity. Treatment involves managing hypotension and providing supportive care as required.
