Antanil Plus (200 mg+400 mg+30 mg)/5 ml
Description
Indications
Gastrum is indicated for the symptomatic relief of hyperacidity associated with conditions like peptic ulcers, gastritis, peptic oesophagitis, gastric hyperacidity, heartburn, sour stomach, and hiatus hernia. It is also effective in preventing stress-induced ulceration and gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Additionally, it acts as an antiflatulent to alleviate symptoms of gas, including postoperative gas pain. Gastrum rapidly relieves acid pain, disperses gastric foam, and facilitates the eructation (burping) of gas and air.
Use as directed by a registered physician.

Pharmacology
Gastrum is a mixture of non-systemic acid-neutralizing substances and an antiflatulent. The combination of Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide provides relief from ulcers by neutralizing gastric acid secreted by the stomach’s parietal cells. Simethicone, with its antifoam properties, spreads on the surface of aqueous liquids, forming a film of low surface tension that collapses foam bubbles. This allows the gas bubbles trapped in mucus in the GI tract to coalesce and be expelled, aiding in the treatment of flatulence and meteorism.
Simethicone is physiologically inert and does not interfere with gastric secretion or nutrient absorption. It is not absorbed from the GI tract and is excreted unchanged in the feces.
Gastrum can be used to alleviate gas, air, or foam from the gastrointestinal tract before radiography, and to relieve abdominal distension and dyspepsia.

Interaction
Antacids, including Gastrum, can affect the absorption rate and/or extent of other oral medications. They may decrease the bioavailability of drugs like theophylline, tetracyclines, quinolone antibiotics, isoniazid, ketoconazole, some antimuscarinic drugs, benzodiazepines, ranitidine, and others. Antacids can also increase the bioavailability of some medications, such as sulphonamides, levodopa, valproic acid, and enteric-coated aspirin.
Contraindications
Do not use Gastrum in patients with renal failure, hypophosphatemia, or severe debilitation. It is also contraindicated in alkalosis and hypermagnesemia, especially when abdominal distention is caused by partial or complete intestinal obstruction.
Side Effects
Gastrointestinal side effects are uncommon. However, excessive use may cause diarrhea, constipation, or regurgitation.
Pregnancy & Lactation
It is advisable to avoid antacid preparations, including Gastrum, during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings
Gastrum should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease.
