Indications

Aqualax powder for oral solution is indicated for the treatment of occasional constipation in adults (≥18 years). It is recommended for short-term use of up to 2 weeks or as directed by a physician.

Composition

Each bottle contains 85 gm of Polyethylene Glycol 3350 USP NF powder for solution. The included cup measures 17 gm or 8.5 gm of powder.

Pharmacology

Polyethylene Glycol 3350 works primarily through its osmotic effect, which causes water to be retained in the colon, producing a watery stool. This osmotic action induces diarrhea, which rapidly cleanses the bowel, typically within four hours.

Polyethylene Glycol is a synthetic polyglycol with an average molecular weight of 3350. It acts as an osmotic agent, retaining water with the stool, but has no impact on the active absorption or secretion of glucose or electrolytes.

Dosage

The usual dose of Polyethylene Glycol is 17 gm per day (or as directed by a physician). It should be dissolved in a glass of water, juice, coke, coffee, or tea. Each bottle comes with a measuring cup to help you accurately measure the 17 gm or 8.5 gm dose.

Instructions for Use:

• Polyethylene Glycol is prescribed for constipation treatment.
• It should be taken only by the individual it is prescribed for.
• Mix 17 gm of powder in a glass of water, juice, coke, coffee, or tea. Stir until dissolved and consume.
• Taking more than the prescribed dose may cause excessive fluid loss due to diarrhea.
• Polyethylene Glycol should typically be used for 1-2 weeks. It may be discontinued once several satisfactory bowel movements are achieved. If unusual cramping, bloating, or diarrhea occurs, consult a physician.
