Betastin 1.5%

Description

Indications:
Betastin is indicated for the treatment of itching associated with signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis.

Pharmacology:
Bepotastine is a topically active H1-receptor antagonist and works by inhibiting the release of histamine from mast cells, helping to relieve allergy symptoms.

Dosage & Administration:
The recommended dosage is 1 drop of Betastin sterile Eye Drops in the affected eye(s) twice daily.

• Pediatric Use: Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below the age of 2 have not been established.

Drug Interactions:
No drug interactions observed, but caution should be exercised for patients sensitive to Betastin.

Contraindications:
Betastin Sterile Eye Drops should not be used in patients hypersensitive to Bepotastine Besilate or any other component of the formulation.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, mild eye irritation, and an unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy Category C: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Betastin should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
• It is not known if Bepotastine is excreted in breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administering Betastin to nursing women.

Precautions & Warnings:

• Before using Betastin, inform your doctor if you are allergic to it.
• Do not instill while wearing contact lenses.

Overdose Effects:
If you use more than the recommended dose, rinse your eye with warm water. Do not apply any additional drops until your next scheduled dose.

Storage Conditions:
Store at 15º-25ºC, protect from light. Use within 30 days after first opening and close the bottle tightly after each use.
