Description
Indications
Calbo-D is indicated for the treatment of conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disorders. It is also frequently used to maintain adequate calcium intake during pregnancy and lactation, support osteogenesis, and assist in tooth formation, often as an adjunct to specific treatments. Additionally, it is used alongside anti-seizure medications to counteract potential calcium deficiencies. Calbo-D serves as a routine supplement and phosphate binder in patients with chronic renal failure.

Pharmacology
Calbo-D contains a combination of Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Calcium plays a vital role in various bodily functions, particularly in the formation and maintenance of bones. Vitamin D3 facilitates the absorption and reabsorption of calcium, while also promoting bone formation. Clinical research has demonstrated that the combination of calcium and Vitamin D3 significantly contributes to bone growth and is effective in preventing osteoporosis and bone fractures.
Dosage & Administration
- Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablet: Take 2 tablets daily, or 1 tablet twice daily. It is recommended to take this medicine with or immediately after a meal to enhance absorption.
- Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 400 IU Tablet: Take 1 tablet twice daily. It is best taken with or just after a meal for optimal absorption.

Interactions
Calbo-D may interact with calcium, aluminium, or magnesium-containing antacids and other calcium supplements. It may also interact with calcitriol and other Vitamin D3 supplements, as well as certain medications like digoxin, tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, and oxytetracycline.
Contraindications
This product should not be used in individuals with hypercalcemia, hyperthyroidism, kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), renal calculi, or Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
Side Effects
Calbo-D is generally well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, and frequent urination. Constipation may also occur. If any of these symptoms are noticed, consult your physician.

Overdose Effects
