Pharmacology:
Cerox CV 500 mg Tablet combines Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid for enhanced antimicrobial activity:
-
Cefuroxime: A broad-spectrum, second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, is bactericidal and effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including many strains that produce beta-lactamase. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, particularly targeting the transpeptidation process.
-
Clavulanic Acid: A potent beta-lactamase inhibitor derived from Streptomyces clavuligerus. By irreversibly binding to beta-lactamase enzymes, it prevents the degradation of Cefuroxime, allowing it to work effectively against beta-lactam-resistant bacteria.
