Clavurox 500 mg+125 mg
Description
Indications
Clavurox is prescribed for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is effective in managing:
- Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis: Caused by Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Acute Bacterial Otitis Media: Due to Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis (including beta-lactamase-producing strains), or Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Acute Bacterial Maxillary Sinusitis
- Acute Bacterial Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis
- Secondary Bacterial Infections of Acute Bronchitis
- Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
- Uncomplicated Gonorrhea
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia
- Multidrug-Resistant (MDR) Typhoid Fever
- Early Lyme Disease
Pharmacology Clavurox combines two active ingredients: Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid.
- Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively killing susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase-producing strains.
- Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor derived from Streptomyces clavuligerus. It binds irreversibly to beta-lactamase enzymes, preventing bacterial resistance and enhancing the efficacy of Cefuroxime against resistant bacterial strains.
