Description
Indications
Clindamycin and Tretinoin Gel is indicated for the topical treatment of Acne vulgaris.
Note: Always use as advised by a registered healthcare professional.
Pharmacology
This gel combines Clindamycin phosphate, a lincosamide antibiotic, and Tretinoin, a retinoid.
-
Clindamycin binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit in susceptible bacteria, inhibiting peptide chain elongation and preventing bacterial protein synthesis. This action suppresses the growth of Propionibacterium acnes, reducing acne occurrences.
-
Tretinoin works by decreasing the cohesiveness of follicular epithelial cells and increasing cellular turnover, helping to bring comedones (pore blockages) to the surface, promoting clearer skin.
Dosage & Administration
Before bedtime:
- Wash your face gently with mild soap and water.
- Pat your skin dry.
- Apply a thin layer of the gel to the affected area using your fingertips.
In the morning:
- Apply a sunscreen after using the gel to protect your skin from UV exposure.
- Do not wash your face more than 2-3 times a day.
- Reapply sunscreen as needed.
Note: The safety and effectiveness of this product in children under 12 years of age have not been established.
Drug Interactions
-
Other Potentially Irritating Products: Use caution when combining Clindamycin and Tretinoin with other topical products that may irritate the skin, such as medicated or abrasive soaps, cosmetics with a strong drying effect, high-concentration alcohol-based products, astringents, or lime.

With Erythromycin: The activity of both Clindamycin and Erythromycin can be decreased when used together, so it is not recommended to use them concurrently.
-
With Neuromuscular Medications: The effectiveness of neuromuscular medications may be increased when used together with Clindamycin. Care should be taken during such combinations.
