Cronix 10%
Description
Indications
Cronix Lotion is used to relieve itching and skin irritation caused by various conditions, including sunburn, dry eczema, itchy dermatitis, allergic rashes, hives, nettle rash, chickenpox, insect bites and stings, heat rashes, and personal itching. It is also effective in managing pruritus following scabies.
Use this medication only as directed by a registered physician.
Pharmacology
Crotamiton, the active ingredient in Cronix Lotion, is an antiparasitic agent that is toxic to scabies mites. Additionally, it provides relief from itching through a counter-irritant effect. As the lotion evaporates from the skin, it creates a cooling sensation that helps distract from the discomfort of itching.
Dosage & Administration
-
For Pruritus:
-
Adults (including the elderly) and children: Apply to the affected area 2-3 times daily. Each application provides relief for approximately 6-10 hours.
-
Suitable for children. No special dosage adjustments are needed for elderly patients.
-
-
For Pruritus after Scabies:
-
Adults (including the elderly): After taking a warm bath and drying the skin thoroughly, apply Cronix Lotion to the entire body (excluding the face and scalp) and massage until fully absorbed. Repeat the application once daily, preferably in the evening, for 3-5 days. Pay extra attention to areas prone to mite infestation, such as the spaces between the fingers, wrists, underarms, and genital region. If pus formation is present, cover the affected area with a dressing soaked in the lotion. Patients may bathe before the next application. Upon completing treatment, a cleansing bath should be taken, followed by a change of bedding and clothing.
-
Children: Use as directed for adults. However, for children under 3 years old, do not apply more than once daily.
-
Use this medication only as directed by a registered physician.
Contraindications
Cronix Lotion should not be used in cases of acute exudative dermatoses or in patients with known hypersensitivity to crotamiton. Avoid contact with the eyes, as it may cause conjunctival inflammation.
Side Effects
Some individuals may experience mild skin irritation or allergic reactions. If any irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
Pregnancy & Lactation
The safety of Cronix Lotion during pregnancy has not been established. Therefore, it is not recommended for use, especially during the first trimester. It is unknown whether crotamiton passes into breast milk. Nursing mothers should avoid applying the lotion near the nipple area.
