Pharmacology
Cyclopan contains dicycloverine hydrochloride, an antispasmodic and anticholinergic (antimuscarinic) agent. Chemically identified as [Bicyclohexyl-]1-carboxylic acid, 2-(diethylammo) ethyl ester, hydrochloride, it alleviates smooth muscle spasms of the gastrointestinal tract.
Dicycloverine HCl injection is a sterile, pyrogen-free aqueous solution intended for intramuscular use only (not for intravenous administration). It acts on cholinergic (muscarinic) receptors found in the involuntary muscles of the gut. By binding to these receptors, it blocks specific chemicals from interacting with them, leading to relaxation of the gut muscles. This mechanism reduces pain caused by colic and spasms of the gastrointestinal tract.
