Description
Indications
Cyporin is indicated for increasing tear production in patients whose tear production is suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca).

Pharmacology
Cyporin is a sterile ophthalmic preparation of Cyclosporine that acts as an immunomodulator. It helps in restoring tear production in patients with suppressed tear secretion caused by ocular inflammation associated with keratoconjunctivitis sicca.
Dosage & Administration
- Instill one drop of Cyporin twice daily in each eye, approximately 12 hours apart.
- Cyporin may be used with artificial tears, ensuring a 15-minute interval between applications.
Pediatric Use:
- The safety and efficacy of Cyclosporine ophthalmic solution have not been established in pediatric patients below 18 years of age.

Contraindications
Cyporin is contraindicated in:
- Patients with active ocular infections.
- Patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to any ingredients in the formulation.
Side Effects
The most commonly reported adverse effect is ocular burning. Other side effects may include:
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Eye discharge
- Epiphora (excessive tearing)
- Eye pain
- Foreign body sensation
- Pruritus (itching)
- Stinging
- Visual disturbances (most commonly blurred vision)
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies on Cyclosporine ophthalmic solution in pregnant women. It should only be used if clearly necessary.
- Lactation: Cyclosporine is known to be excreted in human milk after systemic administration. While systemic absorption from topical administration is minimal, caution should be exercised when administering to nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
- Cyporin should not be used while wearing contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed before administration and may be reinserted 15 minutes after use.
- Cyporin may cause blurred vision; patients should avoid driving, operating machinery, or engaging in activities requiring clear vision until their vision is stable.

Storage Conditions
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Store in a cool and dry place, away from light.
- Do not use more than 4 weeks after opening.
