Indications

Pharmacology
Bisacodyl, the active ingredient in Duralax, is a diphenolic compound structurally similar to phenolphthalein. It is commonly used as a stimulant laxative. Bisacodyl acts on the colon to enhance peristalsis and increases water and electrolyte content in the intestinal lumen, promoting bowel movement. When applied to the caecum, it triggers a response throughout the colon.
