Entacyd Plus 400 mg+400 mg+30 mg
Description
Indications
This medication is used for symptomatic relief from hyperacidity associated with conditions such as peptic ulcers, gastritis, peptic esophagitis, gastric hyperacidity, heartburn, sour stomach, and hiatus hernia. It is also effective in preventing stress ulceration and gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Additionally, it acts as an antiflatulent, helping to alleviate symptoms of gas, including post-operative gas pain. It provides rapid relief from acid-related discomfort, disperses gastric foam, and facilitates the expulsion of gas and air.
Composition Each tablet contains:
- Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel BP (Al2O3, 47% minimum): 425.53 mg
- Magnesium Hydroxide BP: 400 mg
- Simethicone USP: 30 mg
Each 5 ml of suspension contains:
- Aluminium Oxide (Equivalent to Aluminium Hydroxide Gel USP): 200 mg
- Magnesium Hydroxide (Equivalent to Magnesium Hydroxide Paste USP): 400 mg
- Simethicone USP: 30 mg
Pharmacology This formulation consists of non-systemic acid-neutralizing agents combined with an antiflatulent. It provides long-lasting and reliable relief. Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide help alleviate ulcers by neutralizing gastric acid secreted by the stomach’s parietal cells. Simethicone works as an antifoaming agent, reducing surface tension and causing gas bubbles to collapse. This facilitates the elimination of gas from the GI tract, helping to relieve bloating and discomfort.
Simethicone is physiologically inert, meaning it does not interfere with gastric secretion or nutrient absorption. It is not absorbed into the body and is excreted unchanged in the feces.
