Ocustin 1.5%

Description

Indications:
Ocustin is indicated for the treatment of itching associated with the signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis.

Pharmacology:
Bepotastine is a topically active, direct H1-receptor antagonist. It inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells, effectively reducing allergy symptoms.

Dosage & Administration:
The recommended dosage is 1 drop of Ocustin sterile Eye Drops in the affected eye(s) twice daily.

Pediatric Use: Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below the age of 2 have not been established.
Drug Interactions:
No drug interactions observed, but caution should be exercised in patients sensitive to the Ocustin molecule.

Contraindications:
Ocustin Sterile Eye Drops are contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to Bepotastine Besilate or any other component of the preparation.

Side Effects:
Reported side effects include headache, mild eye irritation, and an unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Pregnancy Category C: No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
It is unknown whether Bepotastine is excreted in breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administering Ocustin to a nursing woman.
Precautions & Warnings:

Before using Ocustin, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it.
Do not instill while wearing contact lenses.
Overdose Effects:
If you use more Ocustin than recommended, rinse your eye with warm water. Do not apply any more drops until your next scheduled dose.

Storage Conditions:
Store at 15º-25ºC, protect from light. Use within 30 days of opening and ensure the bottle is tightly closed after use.
