10 gm tube
- Type: Ophthalmic Gel
Description
Indications
Ophthalmic Solution: Hyprogel eye drop is indicated for tear deficiency due to:
- Impaired lacrimal secretion
- Functional disorders resulting from topical or systemic diseases
- Deficient or incomplete eyelid closure
Ophthalmic Gel: Hyprogel eye drop, enriched with Carbomer 980, is a long-acting eye gel for lubricating the surface of the eye for all patients with ocular discomfort. The slight hypotonicity of the gel is rapidly “neutralized” by the slightly hypertonic tear fluid caused by dry eyes.
Use the medication as advised by a registered medical practitioner.
Pharmacology
Hypromellose is a semisynthetic, inert, and viscoelastic polymer used as an ophthalmic lubricant. It acts as a lubricant and artificial tear for the symptomatic treatment of dehydration of the cornea and conjunctiva due to impaired lacrimal secretion and functional disorders from topical or systemic diseases, or caused by deficient or incomplete eyelid closure.
Dosage & Administration
Ophthalmic Solution: Therapy for dry eye syndrome requires an individualized dosage regimen.
- The usual dose of 0.3% Hypromellose is 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times per day or as directed by the physician.
- The dose of 0.5% Hypromellose will vary depending on the patient. Follow your doctor’s directions.
Ophthalmic Gel: Instill 1 or 2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) as needed. The frequency of administration depends on the severity of the condition. Typically, one drop is administered 1–3 times daily. If necessary, Hypromellose may be administered more frequently.
Use the medication as advised by a registered medical practitioner.
Interaction
Hyprogel can be used with contact lenses. However, no compatibility study with lens materials is available.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Hypromellose or any ingredient in the formulation or component of the container.
Side Effects
Common side effects include brief blurred vision or a slight stinging sensation upon instilling Hyprogel. Hyprogel enriched with Carbomer 980 is generally well tolerated, but some cases of burning, stinging, allergic reactions, or red eyes after instillation have been reported. Transient blurring of vision after administration has also been observed.
Pregnancy & Lactation
There is no experience regarding the safety of Hypromellose in human pregnancy or lactation. Studies in the pediatric population have not been conducted.
Precautions & Warnings
If eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness, or irritation of the eye occur, Hyprogel should be discontinued, and a doctor should be consulted. If Hyprogel changes color or becomes cloudy, the product should not be used.
