Composition
Each capsule contains:
- Vitamin C – 60 mg

- Copper (as Cupric Oxide, Ph. grade) – 2 mg
- Zinc (as Zinc Oxide, BP) – 15 mg
Pharmacology
Vitamin C is found in higher concentrations in the lens of the eye compared to the blood. Long-term use of Vitamin C supplements (over 10 years) has been associated with a reduced risk of cataracts. Vitamin C plays a crucial role in neutralizing harmful free radicals, thereby protecting eye cells from oxidative damage.
Vitamin E, an antioxidant vitamin, has been linked to a decreased risk of cataracts, though the exact mechanism remains under investigation. It plays an essential role in scavenging harmful free radicals in the body.
Lutein, a carotenoid found in the macula, has shown protective effects against oxidative damage caused by light. Clinical and animal studies suggest that lutein may reduce the risk of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). Although the exact mechanism of action is still under study, dietary lutein intake has been shown to be associated with lower AMD risk.
Zinc is a vital trace element involved in many enzyme systems. Mild deficiency can cause altered taste, smell, and delayed wound healing, while severe deficiency can lead to skin lesions, alopecia, diarrhea, immune system impairment, and growth issues in children.
Copper is important for the development of bones, the nervous system, and overall growth. It is involved in various enzymatic processes essential for metabolic functions.
