Description

Indications

Eye/Ear/Nasal Solution: This solution is used to relieve dryness of the nasal membranes caused by factors such as cold and allergy medications. It helps moisturize dry nasal passages resulting from environmental conditions like dry climates or airplane travel. Additionally, it aids in loosening mucus in cases of nasal congestion and supports nasal clearance after surgical procedures. This sterile saline solution is also suitable for cleansing wounds, body cavities, and medical equipment such as bandages, catheters, and drainage tubes. Furthermore, it is used as a diluent for medications employed in body irrigation, such as bacitracin and polymyxin.

Intravenous Solution: This solution is utilized in the treatment of metabolic alkalosis, gastroenteritis, and post-surgical fluid management. It is also used as a priming fluid for hemodialysis procedures. Additionally, Solo 0.9% infusion serves as a diluent for drug additives and is widely applied in sterile irrigation and dilution processes.

Pharmacology

Nasal Drops: Sodium Chloride nasal drops are an isotonic saline solution designed to moisturize nasal membranes. This formulation is safe for continuous and prolonged use. By dissolving and softening thick or crusted mucus, it facilitates mucus removal and eases breathing. The excess sodium is mainly excreted through the kidneys, with minimal amounts eliminated via feces and sweat.

Nasal Spray: Sodium Chloride 0.9% nasal spray works similarly by moistening nasal passages, dissolving mucus, and alleviating congestion. In infants and young children unable to blow their noses, this solution helps loosen mucus for easier removal using a nasal bulb syringe, thereby improving breathing.

Dosage

Nasal Drops:

  • Nasal Congestion: For infants, administer 1-2 drops in each nostril before feeding to ease congestion.
  • Ear Wax Removal: Allow the solution to reach room temperature before use. Lie on one side, fill the affected ear canal with drops, and remain in position for a few minutes. Recommended for individuals aged six months and older. Use 3-4 drops per affected ear, 3-4 times daily, for 3-5 days.

Nasal Spray:

  • Newborns to 12 months: 1 spray per nostril, 2-3 times daily, or as directed by a physician.
  • Children over 12 months & Adults: 1-2 sprays per nostril, 2-3 times daily, or as directed by a physician.

For Eye Use: Instill 1-2 drops in each eye as needed.
For Ear Use: Administer 3-4 drops in the affected ear(s) 3-4 times daily for 3-5 days.
Intravenous Solution: The dosage and concentration for intravenous administration depend on factors such as age, weight, and the patient’s clinical condition. The typical adult dose is approximately 1000 mL of 0.9% Sodium Chloride injection.

(Use as directed by a registered physician.)
