Pharmacology

Astaxanthin acts as a powerful antioxidant by:

• Neutralizing singlet oxygen molecules
• Inhibiting lipid peroxidation and reducing harmful free radicals
  Astaxanthin is absorbed in the intestine alongside fatty acids through passive diffusion. It is then transported to the liver via the lymphatic system and bloodstream. More than 70% of Astaxanthin is found in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. The highest concentration is found in the small intestine, followed by subcutaneous fat, spleen, liver, heart, kidney, and skin.

Dosage & Administration

Adults (18 years and older):

• 4 mg daily: General antioxidant benefits, cardiovascular health, and immune support
• 4-8 mg daily: Skin health improvement, sun damage protection, recovery from central nervous system injuries, and eye protection
• 8-12 mg daily: Anti-inflammatory benefits, particularly for arthritis
• 16 mg daily: Supports fertility and reproductive health

Administration:

• Take with or immediately before meals in the morning for best absorption.

Drug Interactions

• Absorption of Zanthin may be reduced when taken with Cholestyramine, Colestipol, Mineral oil, or Orlistat.
