Zifolet 5 mg+20 mg
Description
Indications: This tablet is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Folic Acid and Zinc deficiencies. Use as directed by a registered physician.
Pharmacology: This tablet combines Folic Acid and Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate. Zinc is an essential trace element necessary for human nutrition and is involved in various enzyme systems. Severe Zinc deficiency can cause skin lesions, alopecia, diarrhea, infections, and cognitive impairment. Folic Acid, a B-vitamin, is reduced to tetrahydrofolate in the body and acts as a coenzyme for metabolic processes, including the synthesis of DNA and some amino acid conversions. Folic Acid deficiency may lead to megaloblastic anemia, often caused by malnutrition, malabsorption, pregnancy, haemolytic anemia, or folate antagonists.
Dosage & Administration: Take one tablet daily or as directed by a physician. Follow physician’s advice for proper use.
Drug Interactions: Large amounts of calcium may reduce zinc absorption. No drug interactions have been reported with Folic Acid.
Contraindications: Zinc is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Zinc. Folic Acid is contraindicated in untreated cobalamin (Vitamin B12) deficiency.
Possible Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated at the recommended dose. Occasional gastrointestinal disturbances such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, fever, and respiratory distress may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation: Safe and recommended during pregnancy and lactation.
Overdose Effects: Overdose of Zinc Sulfate may cause mucous membrane irritation and inflammation in the mouth and stomach.
Therapeutic Class: Specific Mineral & Vitamin Combined Preparations
Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
