Description

Indications
This tablet is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Folic Acid and Zinc deficiencies.

Pharmacology
This tablet contains a special preparation of Folic Acid and Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate:

• Zinc: An essential trace element involved in various enzyme systems in the body. Severe zinc deficiency can lead to skin lesions, alopecia, diarrhea, increased susceptibility to infections, and cognitive impairment.
• Folic Acid: A B-vitamin that is reduced in the body to tetrahydrofolate, the coenzyme for various metabolic processes, including purine and pyrimidine nucleotide synthesis (DNA synthesis). It is also involved in amino acid conversions. Folic acid deficiency can cause megaloblastic anemia and may result from inadequate intake, malabsorption, increased utilization (e.g., pregnancy or hemolytic anemia), or use of folate antagonists.

Dosage & Administration
Take 1 tablet orally daily or as directed by a physician.

Interaction

• High calcium intake may reduce zinc absorption.
• No significant drug interactions have been reported with folic acid.

Contraindications

• Zinc is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to zinc.
• Folic acid is contraindicated in cases of untreated cobalamin (vitamin B12) deficiency.

Side Effects
Folic Acid and Zinc are generally well tolerated at the recommended dose. Occasional side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting), fever, and respiratory distress.

Pregnancy & Lactation
This preparation is recommended during pregnancy and lactation.

Overdose Effects
Zinc sulfate is corrosive in overdose, potentially causing corrosion and inflammation of the mouth and stomach’s mucous membranes.
