Description
Indications
Viset is an antispasmodic drug used to reduce muscle spasms in the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of pain related to functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system. It is also used for treating spasm and pain in urological and gynaecological diseases.

Pharmacology
Tiemonium Methylsulphate is a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine and histamine, enhancing calcium bond strength with membrane phospholipids and proteins. This action inhibits intracellular contractile proteins in visceral cells, thereby relieving visceral spasms and pain.
Dosage & Administration

Tablet/Syrup:
- Adults: 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls of syrup daily, divided into doses.
- Children: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily, divided into doses.

Injection:
1 injection, 3 times daily, administered via the intravenous route slowly or intramuscular route. -
Suppository:
20 mg suppository, 2-3 times daily via the rectal route.

Interaction
Viset methylsulphate tablet should not be used with other medications without consulting a registered physician to avoid potential drug interactions.
Contraindications
Viset is contraindicated in patients with urethroprostatic disorders that pose a risk of urine retention. It is also contraindicated in patients at risk for angle-closure glaucoma.
Side Effects
Viset may cause hypotension and tachycardia in certain individuals. Other side effects may occur, and patients should report any unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Animal studies did not reveal teratogenic effects, and no deformities have been reported with normal use. However, due to insufficient data, caution is advised during breastfeeding, even though no issues have been reported with normal use.
Precautions & Warnings
- Exercise caution when treating patients with prostate disorders.
- Use with caution in patients with chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal or hepatic insufficiency.
- Visual disturbances may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
Use in Special Populations
- Paediatric use: Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.
- Geriatric use: Efficacy and safety have been maintained with increasing age.
