5 gm tube
- Type: Ophthalmic Ointment
Description
Indications
Acyvir is indicated for the treatment of Herpes simplex keratitis.
Pharmacology
Acyclovir is a potent antiviral agent effective against Herpes simplex virus (HSV) types I and II and Varicella zoster virus, with low toxicity to mammalian cells. After entering herpes-infected cells, Acyclovir is phosphorylated to Acyclovir triphosphate by viral-coded thymidine kinase. This active form inhibits herpes-specific DNA polymerase, preventing viral DNA synthesis without disrupting normal cellular functions.
